My 2015 XC60 with 71K miles developed an intermittent squealing at 69k miles. Seems prevalent on start up and especially when stop in traffic like at a light. I also hear a quick squeal when turning off engine. I had the Volvo dealer do the 70K mile maintenance and I did not mention this issue as I wanted to see if they made any comment on it. They did not and said all looks good. I took it to my local european repair shop and the tech said noise was caused by leaking water pump leaking fluid onto the accessory/serpentine belt. Recommended replacing water pump and coolant and while at it replace belt and tensioner (since pump has to be removed anyway for this job). Total estimate is $756 for everything which sounds fair. My question- is it normal or common for the T6 to have a water pump fail at only 70k miles? And would a failing water pump that leaks onto belt cause period squealing?
