Default 02 XC70 Stalling

Hi All-
Test drove an impeccably maintained XC70 w 117k miles for 45 minutes under various conditions, and after reviewing a good CarFax, purchased the vehicle. This is my 2nd XC70 - love them. On the way home, experienced a loss of power, pulled over and car stalled. Restarted right away, drove, condition repeated. Continued this for 45 miles. Car always restarted, and never had a CEL. Next day, started vehicle, let it warm up, never shifting it or operating the gas. Came out 15 minutes later and car had stalled. Heater core was cool so it didn't warm up too long. Again no CEL. Switched the Fog Lamp relay w the fuel pump relay and condition persisted. Oddly, found a used gas cap in a Volvo Package under seat. Drove to work w fuel cap loose (thinking may be vent issue) condition persisted. No CEL. Perplexed, I still drive it and the condition remains, but when it as I realize it beginning to stall I place the car in neutral, pull to the right ,come to a stop and place in park. Vehicle will "clear itself" (not requiring turning the car off and restarting) shift into drive and accelerate into traffic only to have the condition repeat. CarFax reveals 4k miles and 6mo's ago "fuel tank module seal replaced" at a foreign car service center w 49 reviews, all 5 star. My thoughts is it is fuel related. Feels like its running out of gas, or a pump can't keep up . Thoughts? Help? Questions? Suggestions? Thank you in advance.
