Welcome to the forum.

I don't know why Volvo made a fake dual exhaust but didn't make it functional. The muffler that isn't working is a dummy muffler.

Yes some people have purchased a fully functional dual exhaust system and installed it.

Hi S70driver,
What you're saying is that it is a fake muffler just hanging there not attached to the exhaust system?

the 2nd outlet is designed for the "V70R" if u look carefully at a R it got 2 outlet left and right side. V70XC got the same exhaust set up if u look under the car but on 1 side will look like a fake muffler but it actually is connected to the other muffler.

I understand now. It's very similar to dashboard plugs that remind you of the premium options you could have had if you spent a bit more money! It would seem to me that one could easily adapt the "R" exhaust system to a "non-R" turbo vehicle then. Thanks for the info.

Yeah you can buy the R exhaust system and install it. It is going to be premo though. I would suggest you have something made locally. 2.5" mandrel bent catback system to two free flowing straight through design mufflers such as BORLA or Magnaflow.

Or purcahse the dual setup from EST.

Thanks for the info. Looked at EST's website and they do have a nice dual exhaust setup...could have a local shop replicate it for less money most likely.

No problem

When you go to your local muffler shop be sure they are able to mandrel bend. If they cannot do not get an exhaust system made by them. Since your turboed you want the most free flowing exhaust system you can get and that means mandrel bent.
