2005 XC 70 brake pedal fade
Took 2005 xc in for brake pad replacment. on return, pedal pushes to floor if I hold med pressure on it. Replaced master cylinder to no effect other than losing $500. If pushed to floor with car at standstill car brakes do hold car if accelerator is pushed. With engine off pedal does not fade. Mech says he called volvo and this is "normal". BS as my 03 v70 does not does this nor did the xc prior to work.
Understand ford had a problem like this where accumulator valve was not holding and bled fluid to accumulator.
Any thoughts on this one?

Couple things you may want to check: Look for fluid leaks / having to add fluid. Sometimes when they replace the pads they let the brakes just hang by the hydraulic hoses, could have created cracks and will cause leaks. Also, will need to be bled if any hoses were replaced, I'm guessing you did this anyway when the MC was replaced. If not I use the one that IPD and FPC Groton sells with the original volvo brake fluid. It make sense that this happens when the car is running as that is when the power assist for the brakes is working. Sounds like leak, air (like jpd600 said) or clips (juanpen)
