2006 185HP Diesel Manual error codes
Hi all,
I have really big headache going on with my XC70. It's a 2006 185HK diesel manual gear, with barely 190.000KM on the clock.
As I was driving it earlier this summer I made a full rotation with the wheel at a very low speed, and moments after I got all sorts of error codes popping up in the display and the car went into a sort of emergency mode. 4x4 was lost, turbo pressure gone, the gauges stopped working, unable to get it into 5th gear. If I stopped the car, I had to detach and attach the battery to get the car starting again. Error codes in the display was showing ABS errror, the dreaded red triangle and I got messages like "ABS not working" (but ABS was in fact working), "Brake Failure - stop immediately", Anti spin not functioning". I could stop the car and start it again (removing battery etc), and it would work for 5 minutes to 30 minutes before the warnings came back.
I have searched the web, been in contact with Volvo and other enthusiasts trying to figure out what happened with the car. So far I have tried the following:
- Checked ABS module - sent it for inspection at a company specialized in Volvo components.
- Checked diesel fuel heater (webasto).
- Checked CEM module - even got a new one and installed, but the error messages are the same. Can this be because the new one has not been reprogrammed and the codes are "stuck" somewhere in the wiring/network?
- Checked and replaced steering wheel sensor.
- Checked and measured wiring throughout the car together with Volvo. The only 'fault' they found was somewhat weaker signals in some areas, but according to them nothing that should trigger these messages and mess up the 4x4 etc.
I'm at a dead end here, really. I have no idea how to troubleshoot further.
The car itself is in very good condition, and it's a real shame that an error like this, seemingly coming out of nowhere should prevent further use of the car. These generations of XC70's are as far as I know, known for lasting a very long time.
ANY help would be very much appreciated!
Best regards,
milpool
