Since I'm in the process of swapping transmissions on my 00 xc I feel it's a good idea to replace the seals on the bevel gear. Anyone happen to have the part numbers and a good source? I was planning on separating the assembly and resealing the halves as well if necessary. Does the reseal involving the 30 degree chamfer apply to the 2000 models? The pdf I viewed mentioned the 01-06 models. If so, how does one deal with the preload adjustment?
The car has over 180k and the bevel gear seems to be operating fine. After reading several posts I expected to find the front driveshaft bearing grease dried and in bad shape. Surprisingly, both ends of the DS look great. I'm still going to repack the bearings with new grease however.
Any and all guidance appreciated.

 

I have decided not to mess with the bevel gear since it doesn't appear to be leaking. I'm just going to change the oil once again and roll with it. The residue all over it was probably due to a leak elsewhere, perhaps the turbo oil return gasket before I replaced it. I do however need several seals. I was able to source the transmission input shaft seal locally from Advance Auto. I assume I'll order the others from IPD, FCP, or the likes. I am currently in need of (from left to right as sitting in the car) left transmission output shaft seal, right transmission output shaft outer and inner seals that fit around the metal collar, and the axle seal from bevel gear to right axle. It's difficult to make out which seals are which on most the the parts sites. Anyone have current part numbers?

 

I ended up having to purchase from stealership when I did my seals.
