Default A couple of questions

I finally got one for myself! I bought the kids a 1985 240 wagon a few years ago and its still running strong, but now I have my very own 2004 XC70. Everone asks if I'm starting a new family, since I already have 4 kids and 6 grandkids, but I'm a percussionist and there's so much room for all my toys! What a great vehicle.

So. Do I need to just go buy the roof rail adjustment tool from the Volvo dealer? They want $18 for the thing which is little more than a glorified proprietary screw driver. Are there any other sources or a work-around?

Is there anobody here who can tell me exactly what the differences are between a V70 and an XC70? I usually see things like: The XC70 is a bit taller due to its AWD.. but then I see countless AWD V70s! Even this website states: "The only real difference between the Volvo XC and the V70 are a more styled body type and the fact that the XC is a 4x4." They might want to change that.

So.. whats the real scoop? Some suspension tuning? Different tires? I can't spot any trim differences. Even a local Volvo mechanic laughed when I started to correct him, saying "Its an XC70." when he wrote down V70. He said.. "We just call them V70s."

Many thanks.

I just use a torx 27 screwdriver with a security hole drilled out in the center of the bit.

Aha.. THANKS!

Is it necessary to drill out a security hole in the center in order to make the torx head fit?

No they make that tool you should be able to find it from any tool supplier. Its called a security torx I believe. Just make sure its long enough to reach back to the screw. I got mine from snapon tools.
