Default Engine removal- wiring harness

I'm dropping the engine in my 00 xc in order to install a used and hopefully properly functioning transmission. I would prefer to simply disconnect the main wiring harness and pull it along with the engine without disconnecting everything. Is this possible and if so where is the main connection?

Good to hear since I have the same car and the same problem. I'm doing the same operation but I'm pulling the engine and transmission out from above (is this an issue?). From what I gather so far there is no main connector. You have to disconnect all of the connectors on the engine to pull the harness away from the engine i.e. fuel injectors, O2 sensors, spark plug ignitor wires, starter motor wires, temperature sensor, A/C wire, and a couple of other sensors that are on some vacuum lines and the intake to the throttle body. My question is can I pull the engine from the top without removing the transfer case? I have removed the bolts to the rear drive shaft but I am unable to disconnect the shaft from the transfer case. I think I will be able to pull the two apart when I start to lift the engine and transmission but I don't want to damage the drive shaft.
