Fusible link issues click no crank
Good day all… I hope,
Just purchased a 2008 xc70 and love the car except for the space and my ability to gather things and collect which isn’t helping my storage solutions. Anyway I’m new to forums so bear with me but would like to say thank you upfront for all of the great info I have gathered reading thru the many relatable posts. I have run thru all of the seemingly obvious issues which are causing my no crank and am wanting opinions regarding a temporary bypass of the battery positive fusible link that is on positive post site to starter because I was able to start with a jumper wire from positive battery direct to starter while running down my click no crank. I intend on purchasing an oem direct to replace unless anyone knows a way to repair this flimsy link battery post mount doohicky? This all started when I parked on a slope engine up and turned off briefly only to return and get click only. Now I did have low fuel (not lit warning yet) and it was humid as well as being off on off on repeatedly thru the day as part of some work I was doing and had zero issues prior other than a week prior removing some corrosion from both posts when I had a similar afternoon( except this was a crank no start) less the parking on a slope part. The cleaning of terminals didn’t fix the issue but taping the gas tank thinking it was a low fuel float stuck issue in turn allowing the vehicle to start and continue on no issue as I stated for about a week. I appreciate any insight and again thank you ahead for any and all input no matter how hard it may be to swallow lol. Btw the fusible link flat barcode part appears to be in tact except for a very small 1/32” maybe size separation. Thx agajn
