Default Grinding in passenger front

I have a 2008 xc70, I am experiencing a grinding in the passenger side front. It seems to ease up after it has been driven some I think it's the cv axle. It's not clacking or clicking though? Any ideas, its not coming from the wheel hub

first thing I'd check is the brake backing plates to makes sure they are not bent and see if there's any wear on the rotor and if the pads are more than 3mm remaining. Next inspect the axle boot for any tears or leakage. most failures of CV joints come about when the boot tears and lets the grease out and the dirt in. It could also be a wheel bearing - some times they are louder when turning at medium speed - ie fast enough to load up the outside wheel. Try turning left at speed (40 mph or so) to load up the passenger side bearing and listen to see if it makes more a different noise.
