My 2002 xc70 has 130K on it. It had the transmission replaced around 90k. Now, sadly, it seems as though its transmission is on its last legs again. There's a pronounced hard shift frequently in the lower gears. At one point it rolled backwards on on a hill when in gear. Now today, I heard a terrible grinding noise traveling on a slight incline. So far though, there has been nothing indicating any transmission trouble on the computer. Even when I brought it to the mechanic to check the codes.

So my transmission is obviously on its last legs right?

I just replaced the timing belt and front axle to the tune of $1500.00. I also got into a small accident which will require about $1500.00 to repair. So do I fix the damage, then trade it in to a dealer? Or is it worth it to replace the tranny again on an 02 with 130K on it? It'll cost me 4K easy. I do love the car but it feels like a money pit.
