Default How easy is it to replace the shifter handle?

Question: How easy is it to replace the shifter handle in a 1999 XC 70. The button in it is broken, and the button is slow to return to normal position.

Thanks.

EDIT: It pulls off. Need to pull hard, but it comes off after pushing boot off the clips at the bottom of the handle.

That's a very interesting topic. But this field is still new to me. It will be grateful if you give me some
more information about it. Thanks in advance.

ipd is where I got the new shifter button. $45 shipped, and it's good as new in 15 minutes. My wife wishes we'd done it months ago.
