key stuck in 2007 XC 70 - won't come out of position 1
Help! My key won't come out of the ignition - it'll turn over from position 1,2 and 3 so the car will start, drive and everything. HOWEVER - it won't come out of position 1 to turn off the electrical / power or come out of the ignition. Help please ASAP!

A couple of weeks late and you probably already have it fixed by now under warranty. If not, maybe same as this problem?

Check your shift **** to see if the tab is out all the way... mine gets stuck too and this does prevent the key from being removed. If this is the problem, here is a link to replace the shift ****... http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S70V70-P...-128-370-4601/

This is probably a transmission selector linkage/solenoid. Some cars have a cable and newer ones have a switch at the gear selector and an electric solenoid in the steering column. Try using the bypass somewhere near the shifter... if the key comes out... something is wrong in the selector electrical/mechanical system that prevents you taking the key out while driving (not in park). Good Luck! Russ
