Key will not come out

2006 XC70, Key will not come out works to start car will shut off but dash lights stay on and key will not come out??

be sure that car is in park not "n" um check trans/ecm fuses and check lights at all try unplugging battery for 15-20 mins jiggle steering wheel... get back to me

This is like similar to Ford problems.
Sometimes keys will not turn in certain Ford vehicles.

Yeah, it should be in neutral.

I would like to know what happens if this is not the case.
