I have an '02 XC70 and the shifter works fine in automatic except in D the shifter will flop over into the geartronic side. The geartronic works except when you push the shifter forward, it does not return to the center position. I pulled the console off and saw a spring that is loose on the front side of the shifter. On the back side, an identical spring holds a plastic guide in place. This guide appears to be missing on the front side.
My question is, Can this be repaired or must the entire shifter housing be replaced?

 

You can repair them the parts are avalible from the Dealer. If they give you a problem let me know and I will give you the part #'s for them.
