Default MAP sensor

Ok, I've got a 1998 v70 xc, and i have had the Check Engine light on for a really long time. I checked the code and it turned out to be the air pump, which was full of water, and I replaced. But, the light stayed on, and now i am getting a MAP sensor reading. The only problem I noticed is that my gas milage went from about 19-20mpg to 14 or less mpg. Could the MAP cause this? Anyway, i have tried to find this map sensor, but i cannot find it anywhere. I checked in front of the washer fluid cap, by the hood latch, but can't find it. Anyone have a clue?

Thanks

It is really the mass flow sensor in the air box. If the pump was full of water then the mass flow could have gotten damaged. It will usually suck the water out of the pump and damage the mass flow sensor.

yes, i read about the water getting into the mass flow, but why does the reading say MAP sensor, and not MAF? The code is P0107 (sensor circuit low input).

Because most Generic scanners are programmed like that.

If the car usually has a MAP sensor it doesn't have a Mass Flow sensor and Vise versa.

If you can try buying the CRC Mass Flow cleaner and try cleaning it.
Usually if it is running good you won't get really bad results from it.
If it is running really bad you can unplug it and if it runs better it is bad.

Also just to be safe check for vaccum leaks. Can also set that code.

The MAPsensor on 98 V70XC is located beside windshield washer fluid filler neck... mostly they wear out as I've seen in the passed.. usually dirt and corrosion or water that get's into it and causing it to set light. there is no relation to Secondary air pump for the Cat Converter system. It's realy easy to replace too.. u can get the part replace it and erase codes with aftermarket scanners. hope that helps. Volvo's MAF don't like intake cleaner much so becareful ifu are cleaning it.
