I searched this forum, but could not find the answer. My daughter lost her keys the other week, volvo key fob with ignition key were attached. She is now using the spare key with fob, can anyone explain the process on getting a new key cut or made. Its an 05 XC70, we are now down to one key for this car, I am not sure if a valet key came with it as we purchased this car used.

I am researching the same issue as my recently purchase '05 came with only the valet key. Steingold Volvo in RI (and on EBay)sells the keyfob & the switchblade key for $ 150 per set. You would still have to go to your local dealer for the software downloads (2) and to have the blank keys cut. The dealer will charge for an hour of labor to program the fobs & cut the keys. Hope that helps.

 

Sorry- also talked to a local MA dealer who offers some good discounts to do this, and he quoted me a $50 price just to cut an additional valet key, $40 after his discount. All the dealers have the blanks, keyfobs & valet keys on hand and takes an hour +/- to do so they charge for one hour labor and will not charge additional for the software downloads if you buy more than one keyfob.

 

I'm in MA too, looking for some new keys for my 04 XC70. Can you share the name of your dealer who has these prices? We just bought the car and it has only one key.
