My friend's 1998 Volvo V70 XC was stopped at a stop light and when he stepped on the gas, he got nothing. It was as if the car was in neutral. Noforward or reverse gears. We brought a trailer to pick him up about 1 hour later and the car drove fine. Would this be the torque converter? He is getting the tranny flushed now...

Usually that means the tranny is toast.
