Default Wiper Reservoir

Hello

Just bought a 2008 XC70, The light on the dash for the Wiper fluid came on and when i got home I added the quarter of a jug the I had left over to the Reservoir. Everything is fine until my wife came out and noticed that it all came out under the car. Now I didnt spill a drop, I tired to look under and cant see anything. any ideas on what the issue could be> It must still have some in it cause I did try the wipers and they worked fine. Thanks

Are you sure all came out or just what spilled out from overfilling the reservoir. The fill neck of the reservoir can leak where it enters the reservoir. The pump on this model is under the reservoir and pulls suction throug a tube going thru bottom of reservoir. If you didn't overfill, the only other two causes are: Crack in reservoir tank or leak at pump connection in bottom of reservoir. I feel you just overfilled and don't have a problem. This can easily happen, particularly if the resevoir neck is't leak proof sealed at reservoir. Suggest you just pull the reservoir neck out and see if the reservoir is filled.

About one month ago, my 2008 XC70 started the same game. Every time I turn on the ignition/start the engine the system puts up the note to refill the washer fluid. As all such info notices do, it disappears after 30 seconds or so. I am planning to raise the issue with my dealer at the next oil change. It's a certified vehicle and the warranty should cover that problem. I'll report back when I have an answer.

I had this same problem with my 2003 S40. Now it is probably slightly different on the 2008 XC70 but you might want to check to make sure the sensor on the reservoir tank is properly inserted into the tank. Mine was put in upside down so every time I filled the tank it would leak. I would look from underneath the car while someone fills the reservoir from up top. You might be able to see where it is leaking while it is being filled.
