My 2005 2.5T. A week after buying it randomly while putting in reverse just went to maximum revs like I had flattened my foot to the floor: I turned the car off after putting in park (putting in park made no difference). Restarted all ok.
then fast forward to a couple days ago went to reverse out of yard and same thing it just instantly maxed out the rev counter line my foot was to the floor I put in park turned off then restarted which did nothing went straight to max revs, put in park turned off and third time all was normal and been done last couple days. Any ideas? The only other problem I’ve had was engine light came on and when put on a friends rdiagnostic scanner it came up with ecm400c bank 1 catalytic convertor efficiency bank 1.
The engine light was not on though when it happened the first time and I think may be unrelated
