Default 2.9L T6 XC90s - Something to avoid?

So I'm thinking about replacing my S70 with an XC90. While browsing the local listings I've noticed that the 2.9L T6 XC90s are priced significantly lower than the V8s in the same age/mileage range (ex an '05 T6 seems to average $7-9k, some as low as $4500 while a V8 seems to be around $13-15k). Should this be a red flag?

I don't really need a V8 but if another $5k will buy a more reliable car then I wouldn't mind spending it. The biggest issue from what I've read with the T6's is transmission problems at around 100k. Is there more I should be aware of?

I found out through dealership maintenance records our transmission was replaced under warranty by Volvo at around 65k miles, under the original purchaser of the vehicle. I inquired about the replacement, if it were a newer design, or the same that failed, to my astonishment (yeah right) they replaced it with the same problematic POS, as far as the service advisor could tell. Makes absolutely no sense to me! When, because I'm sure it will only be a matter of time, this one goes, I hope (on a wing and a prayer) that Volvo will cover this one as well. Best of luck to you, I love the car, but as like most owners, a bit disappointed in Volvo.

Thanks that kind of confirms my suspicions about these. The one that really caught my eye is a 2005 with 101k for $8000 at a dealer. I do like the car and this particular one is loaded with everything, including the pop up gps, but I'm pretty sure everything (trans included) is original and I really don't want to play roulette with it and wonder when something is going to fail.
