One of the low beam bulbs went out a couple of days ago, after looking at the bulbs I realized that the high beam bulbs do not come on. When activating the high beams, the indicator light illuminates and the low beams in the headlights move up so I think everything that way is functioning correctly. I noticed that the high beam bulbs that are in there now are a H10 bulb, but every bulb guide I look at says it should be a H11 bulb. The bulb restraint in the headlight is configured for retaining the H10 bulb and the connector will not fit a H11 bulb. I have the HID low beams, was wondering if someone else can chime in and tell me if the previous owner did some rigging to make the H10 bulb work or if that is standard with the HID low beam headlight assembly.

You are describing normal operation with HID headlamps. The high beam is the outer HID bulb simply pointed further down the road, using the same bulb. The inner bulb that is used as the high beam in cars with a halogen H11 low beam - does not come on as a high beam in the HID cars. It is used as a daytime running lamp - or the flash to pass light. You can program the headlamps to be off with the switch off, and two other choices using Vida or a compatible scan tool.

Flash to pass does not work with HIDs if the headlamps are off - it takes too long for the HID to warm up . So the inner halogen bulbs do that function. (if my memory serves me correctly)
