2005 XC90 left controls intermittent (turn signal, info, read, high-beam)
So after dropping my transmission this summer and replacing it, I am now working on an intermittent electrical issue that has been driving me nuts
.
In short, my left controls - turn signal, (dash) info, read, high-beam intermittently function or do not function at all. I have done the following:
1) After doing the "eraser" method on the inner controls copper pads (NO positive result), I went and bought a new left hand controller. NO positive result either.
2) Jiggled the wires around the controller, NO positive result.
3) Jiggled the wires around the CEM (central electronic module), NO positive result.
4) Hazard light functionality works.
5) I don't want to throw parts at it, but what about the board that the controller attaches to? (see picture)
What else could I try? What am I missing? Dropping the transmission myself in-front of my driveway was less problematic
.

I'might having the same issue
looked behind the kick plate and the wires all seem to be in good order. I looked at the wires connecting to the door opening and they looked good. I do have a clicking noise in the door closer to where the lock is. Is there an connections in that area? Seems like a huge task to take apart, but I'm willing. Tired of the disco while driving at night. Hope this all makes sense I'm a novice here.

While driving any distance over 60 minutes the car warning comes on saying sudden loss of brakes, stop safely. Airbag check light comes on. Within a few seconds all the electronics shuts down; all dash, stereo, lights, wipers, windows and lack of power to engine but car stays running. This was almost a deadly crash while driving in pouring rain and there were cars everywhere. No way to signal or flashers, I honestly thought me and my family were gonna get in an accident. I have read other stories online so my question is, What is the cause of this? How do I fix it before some gets hurt or even worse killed!I've contacted VOLVO and got no help. Been reading all sorts of things that"could" be causing this. I filed a complaint on the link below, there should be a recall on this. I own a 2004 xc90.
