about to purchase XCv70 or XC90.
All,
The last time posting, "Tech" helped me with my 99v70XC, so I completely trust the feedback and suggestions that you all make on this Volvo board.
My question is that my wife and I are considering trading in our 99v70XC for an 05v70XC or an 04 XC90. We looked at them both at a dealer in upstate NY today, but we couldn't test drive. Any suggestions? I'm leaning toward the XC90 simply because the dealer said that he really wants to "move them" off the lot. He has reduced the price to about 31k for an 04 with 19k miles, but he said he will go even lower to make room for other cars. Any thoughts? The tires look pretty bald (and judging from other posts about this vehicle, tires ARE a big problem) If we make an offer, I will ask the dealer to replace the tires.
Thnaks for taking the time to read and hopefully respond.

RE: about to purchase XCv70 or XC90.
Drove the 04xc90 today and really liked it. I mentioned to the dealer that I "know some people" who own XC90s and they said they go through tires like crazy. He never heard anything about xc90s flying through tires! I'll post again this weekend if I decide to buy it.

RE: about to purchase XCv70 or XC90.
What engine/model did you drive -T5 or T6 ? T6 has 4 speed tranny (read somewhere made by GM), T5 got AW 5-speed made in Japan. I could not find any T6 when I was looking to buy, T5 seemed a little underpowered to me, so we bought V8. I'd ask if they have left-over "05 V8 models-once I drove it I could not go back to T5.
yuri
"05 V8 w/ Xenon headlights, premium sound, convinience (everything xept NAV and DVD)
PS
Many features come standard w/ V8, so the whole difference bet T5 and V8 is about 2K.

Yurionel,
I drove the T5 and found it had enough power for my needs. The dealer also had a T6 and a V8 on the lot, but both had charcoal leather and my wife gave it an immediate "thumbs down." From the reviews I have read, the T5 has a better engine that the T6 and is overall a better vehicle. The gas mileage is also an issue, so the V8 is a bit less attractive to us. My wife is going to test drive the T5 tomorrow, and we will hopefully make the dealer an offer on Monday.
