Blower Fan Issue - 2011 XC90
So, we're about one month into ownership of our 2011 XC90 R-Design AWD. Love it, but there are definitely some issues that need to be adressed very soon. The big isue is an AC blower fan that seems to have a mind of its own; Turns itself on after we have parked the car. We've discovered this about a dozen times already. Needdless to the say, the previous owner told us NOTHING about this little querk. Found my battery dead today, and I'm sure its a direct consequence of this issue. The little I've read about this issue suggests that its the resistor and its a BEAR to replace. Any insight into this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Your car might have the "after blow" function. Not sure about your year but -
For earlier cars (2001+) after the car is parked for ~50 minutes the ac/heater fan runs for ~7 minutes to clear the moisture from the evaporator so it does not develop the dreaded stinky sock smell. After blow is not supposed to come on if the battery is weak and can be turned on or off (on some cars) using VIDA. .
