Default Blower motor runs constantly unless fuse is pulled

Greetings!

I am dealing with a blower motor issue. I have replaced several blower motors and resistors over the years on Volvos, but this is way beyond anything I have ever experienced.

It's a 2013 XC90 with the 3.2L engine, about 145K miles. A few months ago, we replaced the blower motor and the resistor because the blower stopped working completely. We used aftermarket (eBay) parts, and life was good for several months.

Recently, the blower motor started blasting on high (regardless of adjusting the fan speed on the CCM), and the only way to stop the blower motor from running is to pull the fuse. Blower motor does not shut off even with the engine off and key out of the ignition...nothing will stop the blower motor from running full blast except pulling the fuse. There are no codes stored.

So, I did another blower motor and resistor (aftermarket from Parts Geek), no improvement.

Then I bought a used Climate Control Module with matching part numbers, which also resulted in no improvement. FUN FACT: THE BLOWER MOTOR RUNS ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN THE CCM IS REMOVED FROM THE DASH AND NOT CONNECTED! If the fuse for the blower motor is in the fuse box, the blower motor will run until the battery dies.

What am I missing?

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to take the time to give their suggestions. I have found this group to be so helpful over the years!

As you know the heater fan motor speed is controlled by the resistor. If it is running full speed - you have a bad resistor. Sorry.

That certainly makes sense. But, that would mean that I have purchased 2 new aftermarket resistors that are defective. What are the chances?

ONE BIT OF INFO THAT I LEFT OUT OF MY ORIGINAL POST WAS THAT WHEN I INSTALLED THE 2ND AFTERMARKET RESISTOR, I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE FAN SPEED FOR A FEW MINUTES....AND THEN RIGHT BACK TO FULL SPEED FAN THAT WOULD ONLY TURN OFF WITH THE FUSE PULLED.

I am a small used car dealer and have sold Volvos, exclusively, for the last 15 years. I've done more than a dozen of these blower motors, some as a standalone blower motor, and some where I replaced the resistor at the same time. I have never had an issue with an aftermarket resistor, but I suppose anything is possible.

That being said, I am getting ready to try a genuine Volvo resistor. I will report back, if I have any compelling information to share.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post!
