Hi, I just changed the brake pads and rotor on the front of a 2008 XC90 (v6 AWD). I knew there were 3 different size rotors, so took it off, measured (336 mm), and went to AutoZone and got the rotors (Duralast brand) and pads (Duralast Gold). Put them on, put the tire back on. I have not tried really driving it yet, but I rolled the car back and forth in the driveway. The wheel clears the calipers all around, but the clearance is SO small, I'm worried maybe they gave me the wrong (too thick?) pads or something. Is the clearance meant to be so tiny? It's only maybe 3 mm. I've never changed pads on a Volvo before, but I have on Fords, Honda, etc, and they all have much more clearance.

Thats fine, itll be close. Theres different diameter rotors, but you wont find different thicknesses for the same make model and year.

 

Thanks. Since I posted this, I drove it a little, and it was fine. It's just super close, so if the little spring bracket were to come off, that seems like it could do damage to the wheel, but, is what it is.
