Default Can only fill gas tank to 1/2

2007 XC90 - Purchased for my daughter (who just had twins). The vehicle sat unused for 6 months before we bought it. It runs great but she can only fill the gas tank to 1/2. Have tired slowing down flow, waiting a couple of minutes to try and complete fill, using different gas stations; nothing seems to help. No warranty so we need an inexpensive fix. Any suggestions?

Previous owner said he never had this problem...

A lot of times the filter for the fuel fills tube gets clogged up with dirt or spider webs. When that happens it will cause the gas pump to stop filling.

Default had this repaired

I had this years back on a brandnew XC90 2.5T. It was fixed under guarantee, but it took them to a week. There must be something with the pipe or hose which goes to the tank from the filler opening.
