Default Charge for GPS?!

I purchased my XC90 directly from the factory and had it delivered to me in Europe as part of the military sales program. I recently shipped it back to the US, and the dealer is trying to charge me $500 to convert it to US specs. I feel like they're trying to rip me off. Anyone else have this experience?

So you did not deal with a US dealer at all? If you bypassed the dealer altogether I can see them getting paid to do work. However, If you bought it through a US dealer with the understanding that it was a European delivery, then US conversion should have been included in the deal.

Yeah if you bought it from a US dealer through the Overseas Delivery program, it would have been built to US specs right off the bat.

That's what is throwing me. I purchased it through a dealer in Stuttgart for delivery in Germany, and it was built to US specs. I suspect the dealer in Tampa, Florida is slow-rolling me to get me to pay for the upgrade. I did use the car in Europe before shipping it to the US, but this never once came up.

Can't say I blame the US dealer. They didn't make a dime off the deal. If they have to do work on a car they didn't sell, the clock is running unless you can get Volvo to help out.

I understand their perspective, and am hoping Volvo will reimburse them. However, I can't seem to get in touch with anyone there to weigh in.

What exactly needs to be changed? Just the navigation? Is the speedometer in MPH?

Okay so the car is built to US specs. Navteq handles the navigation, or used to anyway. The first update used to be free but I'm not sure if that is still the case.
