Considering a new XC90. Questions.

Looking at a new '07/'08 XC90 AWD. Half the year the vehicle will be at 7,500' altitude and once in awhile will be used for light towing. The rest of the year it will be at sea level.
Will the 3.2 be enough? How's the MPG of the 3.2 vs. the V8? Given past comments here and elsewhere the six is about as economical (uneconomical?) as the eight. Any personal experience out there.
Anything I need to get? Anything I should avoid? Understand the GM transmission is a thing of previous years, yes/no?
Any and all suggestions comments I'll be thankful for.

The fuel economy is about the same. Both the brand new 3.2 I6 and V8 are too new to tell whether if it is good or bad. Both nowadays have a Asin Warner 6 speeds transmission so no more GM4T65 transmission. For towing a V8 definately better if u have ever driven the 3.2 I6 it felt a little sluggish when taking off on it's own without a trailer. Most of the new XC90 are pretty good now... 05 is the changing yr of electrical system (avoid) and 03-04 have some bugs to fix as you know by now the GM transmission in the old in line 6 twin turbo.
