I was just putting gas in my 2003 XC90 and the gas tank door snapped off.

Any suggestions where I can get replacement hinges for this and how to install them?

I ordered mine from FCP Groton. The removal of the old hinge left on the car and the install of the new one is pretty straight forward. Just take your time as to not bust the little plastic pins.

 

This happened to me at a full-serve gas station about 5 months ago. The attendant apologized, and said he sees it happen with Volvos all the time. Luckily I was close by to my local dealership, so I drove on over and they fixed it on the spot at no cost. They were not surprised in the least bit about this, and gave me the impression that they do this particular fix all the time.

 

My broke today. The two plastic pieces that hold the metal spring broke off. Has anyone replaced this hinge apparatus? How to remove the old one?

 

I got the replacement part, took the old part off, you just pull it off, gently.

You are left with 4 small holes. Line up the new one, snap it in, then push the four tabs in to hold it in place.

Did that, now can't get the actual door back on, the clips that hold the spring on are breaking. Great. We're gonna take it to a repair shop to see if they can get it on.
