I borrowed my friend's 2020 XC90, and now there is a scraping noise coming from the rear right wheel. So I took it to a dealership. The service guy listened for a few seconds and thinks it's the brake pad lightly scraping the rotor, and it's safe to drive until we can get it looked at properly. He can't imagine what would have caused it, but all that should happen is that the pads will wear prematurely.
My friend says he's never used the parking brake before. I engaged it earlier today, but disengaged it before driving. I've heard of cases where it doesn't disengage fully for some reason. Does this sound like that? Anything else it might be? Anyone disagree with the service guy's assessment that it's safe to drive?
I feel terrible that I borrowed my friend's car and this happens! He's now in a pickle, because he needs it to drive the kids around this week.
