Hood won't latch closed
Help!! I had to jump my car and when closing the hood noticed it didn't latch securely. It catches on the release but doesn't close all the way. Basically the interior release arm now serves no purpose because I can lift the hood to access the release from the exterior whenever I please. Any ideas on how to fix this? everything seems to be working fine. Cable is working, has a normal amount of resistance when pulling the interior release arm. Release arm closes all the way, I'm kind of at a loss
That's a tough one. If the cable or one of the side latches (there should be two like P2 models I assume) hang up then pulling the release inside the car should feel different. Still, check for proper action on those two latches, spray them with a cleaner to blow out dirt filled lube, then relube to see if they free up.
start by spraying the latches with some lithium grease or similar, make sure there's no bent parts and that the hood is properly adjusted. You sould be able to feel if the cable is binding up but more likely its the latch or the pads need to be adjusted.
I'm having the same issue with the hood not staying closed when I slam it shut. Only the safety catch is keeping it held down. I'm wondering if it's the release cable that snapped or if it needs some grease. Do I need to take off the plastic wheel well in order to trace the cable from the interior handle all the way to the hood latch?
We had some cold weather in the Northeast and I do remember trying to open the hood. It may have been frozen shut because I wasn't getting any response when pulling the hood release lever from the cabin.
