Hi all, I'm a proud owner of a 2001 V70 with 98.000 miles that's been very reliable and safe. My second car at the moment is a Mazda Tribute and I'm looking to upgrade it to a 2.5T XC90 (enough hp for me). I've heard from a local Volvo dealer that they are not very reliable and that I should go for the XC70
What are you owner's opinion about this (I didn't like his comment considering he's a volvo dealer).

DC, stay away from the XC90 becasue it will alter your impressions of Volvo reliability. believe me because I own a '99 V70 which I love to death; and own an '05 XC90 which has made me leary of ever purchasing another Volvo. Recommend you go with a 05-07 XC70. Not sure about reliability of '08 to present XC70s. I figure there are too many on the used car lots for them to be a gem.

 

You should be OK with 2.5T . Just avoid T6 (bad GM transmission).
To my knowledge, 2.5T XC90 share engine and tranny with XC70.
No newer Volvo is reliable like old ones
