Default Middle seat belt retractor locked up on XC90

I have also seen a number of posts regarding this problem. The suggestions are to unbolt the belt anchor at the floor.

What do you do if the seatbelt retractor is integrated into the seat and the set is folded forward? There isn't any slack to pull the seat back up to the upright position.

Is there a schematic or pictures on the web that shows how to disassemble the seat back in order to access the retractor mechanism for the middle seat?

I have not seen any as of yet. Can you follow the belt to the floor and feel the bolt?

The seat belt retractor is integrated into the seat. It looks like the seat belt retractor is about midway down from the top of the seat. I cant take the seat back off to get to the retractor assembly.

Any ideas?

But the other end of the belt mounts under the seat bottom. You might be able to fold the other side seat bottom foward and get to where it attaches at the bottom to loosen the bolt.

I understand the retractor is in the seat but there is the other end that mounts in the floor.

Tried that, now the seatbelt is retracted all the way up with about 12 inches left. The retractor won't take up anymore slack to release the lock. I think its full.

At least I can put the seat back up.

Any suggestions?

GOT IT!!!

I had to push the plastic button through the slot to give me some more slop in the belt. It finally let go. Total repair time 1.1 hours....not bad for the first time looking at it. Next time should only take about 10 mins.

Life is good. No more booster seats for me.

Thx.
