Need a key for 2010 XC90
Somehow my son managed to destroy the key for our 2010 XC90. I think the steering wheel was locked and he went to turn the key and he forced it and it busted the key. I am needing a whole new key for the car. What is the cheapest way to fix this issue?
Thanks

Exactly what is broken? Do you have the switchblade key and that end is damaged?
There will be no cheap fix. The key portion has a chip in it that is required for the immobilizer to turn off to allow the car to start.
With the swithblade style key the remote is detachable - and hopefully if not damaged can be reused.
Need just a few more details -
Any replacement key will need to come from the dealer - the reason is - any key requires a software download using VIDA to tell the car to accept the signal from the new key. Certainly there are shops or individuals that have a VIDA subscription. In fact you could do this yourself with a Dice unit and a Vida subscription -
Easiest solution - If the key portion of a switchblade key is damaged - order a new key (that half of the remote) precut from your preferred dealer using the VIN. When it arrives and sucessfully operates the door and ignition lock - have them "program" your car to accept the signal from the new key. Simple process for maybe $200 or so total. Then attach the new key to your exisitng remote.
