Red face Needing some techie solutions for my newest XC90

Hello all-

I'm a new member to this forum with a few questions and I'm hoping some of you out in Volvoland may have the answers.

I just purchased a 2006 XC90 to replace my 2004 XC90 (RIP) that was totaled a few weeks ago (I came away with a few bruises, thanks to Volvo safety).

1) My latest used vehicle only came with one key fob. I have the extra from my 2004, can I reprogram it to work with my newer car?

2) Can't get the courtesy lights just inside the lift gate to come on when I open hatch. Neither side works. Could this be a bad fuse?

3) Lots of scuff marks on plastic front and rear bumpers. Are there any products/techniques that might make these less noticable?

3) Fading/oxidizing of chrome trim around windows. Any ideas?

4) I am interested in getting an aftermarket bluetooth kit to use with my phone while in my car. Any suggestions?

I know that I have posted a lot of questions, but I have faith that my fellow XC90 lovers can help me out! Thank you in advance.

i am going to reply to questions 3 and 3.

If your plastic looks like wax or white paste take a spray bottle and mix 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water. spray on and wipe off, may take a couple of times depending on how long it has been on there. If the plastic trim has just been sun faded I would recommend poor boys trim restorer. You can buy it detailedimage.com.

The next question your metal around windows most likely is some hard water. I would start with 50/50 of white vinegar and water. If this does not work ou can up the amount of vinegar. If this does not work order chemical guys hard water spot remover. If this does not work 0000 steel wool can wrok but try in a small area first and I would tape off the area around it first so you do not scratch the paint.

Default question 1

You should be able to get the dealer to reprogram the fob to work on the keyless part but the key part wont work. The problem is the dealers charge a lot to reprogram them.

Bluetooth - I looked at the Volvo unit but it costs ~$800 installed. In the end I bought a unit on Amazon - the Motorola T215. Works like a charm for $30.
