Default Oil leaking in 05 XC90

any input is appreciated.

During the last few weeks, i have noticed oil leaking on the floor about a drop every 2-3 days.

Last night checked under the hood and in ran a finger under the skid plate.

A good amount of oil has collected on the skid plate and a good amount of oil is coming out of what seems to be one of the cylinders.

Vehicle is being taken in within the next day or so, wanted to see if anyone can provide some insight prior to dealing with the dealer.

Also i am assuming this will be covered under the 50K warranty. vehicle has 42K miles on it currently.

Default RE: Oil leaking in 05 XC90

Hi xc90guy,

As I'm an 850 driver, I am not privy to leaky spots on XC90s. I assume it is leaking from seals, connections, etc... If XC90 has oil cooler, one of the connections may be leaking. Or, when someone did the last oil change, he/she did not install the filter properly. Or, it could be due to a neglected PCV system. Whatever it is, I feel it is something minor. And yes I believe it should be covered under warranty.

Keep an eye on the oil level and never let it go south of the MIN mark on the dipstick. In the meantime, see if you can receive any inputs. If not, try General Volvo Chat, because some members & moderators check out GVC very often.

Happy holidays,

JPN
