Default Radio Intermittent

Hi all, new to the forum. I've searched around for my issue, but haven't been able to locate anything specific.

I'm having an issue with my radio only working on occasion. Usually when I turn the car on, the radio or CD player will work for 5 to 10 minutes and then just shut off. If I push the Power button, it displays a picture of the car, but then turns back off. Do you think this is some kind of over heating issue with the radio, or possibly just a bad connection somewhere?

When the radio is working, everything displays and works correctly. It just won't stay on.

I appreciate any ideas you all may have.

Tom

if it were a bad connection the problem would probably be more random (like it would work until you hit a bump, etc.). it is not that hard to check the connections though. some models have amp under the passenger seat so you can check those pretty easily (amp is kind of sunk into the floor). the connections behind dash harder but not bad. if you want to check them google for instructions on installing the bluetooth connection.

Well, checked the connections to the amp as well as removed the ICM and reassembled. Didn't see anything that appeared loose and still having the same problems. Anybody have any other ideas? Is possible the amp has gone bad?

Probably a bad ICM- pretty common failure on the XC90.

Default xc90 radio problem

i have done a full replacement in my 2004 XC90 with a double din Alpine reciever and all new door speakers also a kicker cvx. all because when i bought it 7 weeks ago the radio intermittenly would disconnect in the rear of the vehacel and the radio sucked. plus the 6 disc was busted. but all new again and i had to completely scrap the old system. you have to bypass the stock amp which is in every XC90 and run all new everything even a new antenna for the radio. but WELLLLL worth the money. i am an audiophile and it was the best purchase i could of made. besides buy this bad a$$ Murdered out Volvo...

i can give you all the info of places to buy a new setup and how to install if you like?

I thought I had read somewhere that you couldn't put in an aftermarket deck because the cars computer was somehow integrated with it. However, if that's not the case, I'd be interested in any help you can provide! I wouldn't be afraid of taking that on as long as I had an idea as to how the wiring works.

you are having a most system communication issue . the orange optic cables connected to the modules in the audio system. depending on the features in your car there can be up to 4 + modules. the main one is the icm it is the screen of the radio. u have to make sure there is a red light comming out of that . most of the time it is the icm or the aud. you just have to make sure with key on engine off check to see if light is comming out of the optic connectors and modules. icm, aud, iam, antenna mod.,sat. radio mod.,bluetooth mod. what it does it runs a light in loop and one of the module is not sending the light back out to complete the loop.
