Default Removal of rear brake rotors

I am in the process of changing both rear brake rotors and brake pads on my 2003, XC90, the off side came free with a little effort and job complete on this side, I am now working on the near side rotor and can't get it off as it feels as if the parking brake shoes are holding it on, does anyone have any suggestions of how to overcome this problem, there is no adjustment on the back plate to slacken the brake shoes off.
Thanks in anticipation.

Default RE: Removal of rear brake rotors

there is a way of getting adjuster back off but require lot's of effort.... kick panek at l/f foot well... for me I'd rather damage the retaining springs that hold in the parking brake shoes than to do the backing off of the automatic adjuster at left front foot well close to the parking brake pedal. just use 2 big flat screw driver or pry bar shoved into the vent on rear rotors and wiggle back and forth until it comes off fully... u may bent the retaining spring for my opinion just replace those springs is easier than to screw around with automatic adjuster... if the shoes stick out and u cannot get new rotors back on.. just pry on the parking brake adjuster that pushes the parking brake shoes outward(attached to the parking brake cable) <really hard to explain without picture> it will retract the parking brake shoes and allow new rotors to fit.. by the way if u see parking brake shoes seperated replace it at the same time... I hope this help.
