Default Road noise

Hi, I have a 2011 XC90 and I just had the tires replaced this morning. I get a loud road noise towards the rear of the car between 40 and 50 miles per hour and it's substantially louder when I take my foot off the gas. This happened before I got new tires as well. So I don't believe it's the new tires. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything specific I can do to reduce the road noise. Thanks.

Noise in general is my mechanic's nightmare. Only because what sounds like (descriptive word here) to you sounds like (descriptive word here) to me. Your best bet is to get a mechanic in your car and reproduce the noise for them.

Where did you buy your tires from?

This is really a curiosity to me, because never ever have I ever made a car make a noise louder by coasting. That is so strange.

If we are to believe it's not a tire, it seems to me the next thing to suspect would be a wheel bearing.
