Question Turbo Torture

I have a 2004 Volvo XC90 T6 with roughly 150k. The vehicle has a hard start...when the engine is cold I usually have no issues with it turning over. When the engine is hot, however, it can take several tries to get it to start. Recently the "reduced engine performance" message has appeared. It is intermittent and usually appears only after I have trouble starting. I did notice the inter-cooler turbo hose is seeping oil and have ordered the part. I also read on this forum about a possible PCV issue which I will look in to. A mechanic said I need to replace the entire turbo. Considering I have only owned the vehicle less than a year (which means 3 more years to pay on it) I'm really hoping there are some other avenues I can take to fix the issues. Any suggestions or has anyone else had similar issues with successful repair?

I had similar issue and just got the hose replaced a few days ago. So far so good. I am hoping that's the only thing that needs replacement. Mine is a 2004 2.5T with 182K miles.

Ok, that's good to know. I'm scheduled to take the vehicle to San Diego for repairs this weekend. Hoping that whatever it is, the repairs are covered by my warranty.
