Default V8 oil trap replacement cost

I have a 06 V8 XC90 which we have owned since new. It has been a great car to date. However the dealer has told us the oil trap has failed and needs replacement. They quoted us $4000 and explained the engine has to come out for the job. Does this sound reasonable? The car has 135,000 miles on it and if it is a $4000 repair, then we need to consider if it is worth keeping the car.

There is no oil trap on the V8. So there is some sort of miscommunication here...

yup, no oil trap, unless they are talking about the PCV system. But I can't see 4k just to change a PCV system.

The oil trap basically is the PCV system (on 4, 5 and 6 cylinders).

I'm betting his car is leaking oil from the timing cover like they all do, and they are quoting removing the engine to reseal the timing cover and possibly oil pan. Not uncommon on the V8.
