Default VIBRATION NOISE

Hi all, first post. Wife has a 2005 XC90 that we purchased new and have had some minor annoying issues with that drive us both crazy... like being pecked to death by a duck. I'll start with the most annoying and see if you guys can help.

Since new, we have had a vibration noise that starts at approx 60 mph and gets worse the faster you go. When I'm driving, I swear it is coming from the pass rear quarter, wife states it is coming from driver side door area... it's very hard to pin down. It is wind related, because if i tuck in real close to a semi and block the wind noise, it goes away. I've read about windshield leaks, air cabin filters, and roof rack. I want to start with the simplist to most difficult fixes. Dealer found nothing from beginning (worthless), and vehicle is out of warranty (60,000 miles). Where and how do I start?

Thanks all.

If the vibration is heard, but not felt, then it is probably the roof rack where it is sealed to the roof at the front. Way to find out is: take a 3" piece of electrical or duct or masking tape and place it around the rack gasket at the front of rack where it meets the roof. Drive the car, and if the noise stops, you've found the problem. This particular problem has a TSB at the dealer with a one hour fix. Any other noise or vibration would have to be isolated to be determined. I had this same problem with my '05 xc 90.

Good luck!

Oh! I should have told you, put the tape on bothfront legs where the rack meets the roof. The air leak can be coming from either side, or both.

I've been unable to find this TSB. Does anyone have the printed text. Also, I'm out of warranty. Does the dealship charge for TSB repairs?

Thanks again.
