I have a 2004 Volvo XC90 with the Harmon Kardon system it has a 6 disc cd changer. the head units on all these XC90's pretty much all look the same. I was wondering could i swap out my 04's head unit with the 06's so that i could have the ipod hookup?

Also, you're making up the part about HarmAn Kardon. They never touched the XC90 sound system.

The speakers are made by Volvo in the older models and DynAudio in the newer ones. The amp is from Alpine after what I've heard.

 

interesting my build says H&K oh well...

 

it is possible to have aftermarket head units. it just cost more and there are some issues with the CAN network in the car.
plus newer volvos (1999-) cannot swap electric parts (modules) it has to be new and then programed by the dealer.
