Default Who can answer?

The other day, my wife complained to me that when she opens the door with her key, seat and mirrors do not adjust to her setting. I took her key, and mine, and opened door with both of them. Both times seat adjusted. This morning I opened the door and no seat nor the mirrors moved! I had to press one of preprogammed setting on the seat panel.

Is there a reasonable explanation or this is just supernatural mistery?

Are you using the key only or the remote?

Just the remote. 'Unlock' button.

When you were testing did you move the seat between using both remotes?
The remote remembers from the last position it was locked in.

Yes, I did. My wife is shorter, so she uses different settings and has to adjust both seat and mirrors. I have driven cars with memory in remotes before. It looks like our remotes sometimes forget the settings. That is a mystery.

Life is tough when you have to push a memory button to get your seats in the right position!

I remember the old days when we had to turn a crank to lower the windows.

Do I sens a wee sarcasm here? I'm also old enough to remember that strange crank thing. Still, I paid for it. My manual says there is a memory in the key. I know I'm different, but I want it work. I understand you also don't know the answer...

I have seen these things flake out like this. I am not sure if there is a fix yet or not.

UPDATE: This morning mirrors adjusted, the seat moved half-way only! Would you believe this? Is is possible battery in the remote is dying?

I know it is not a serious thing, like gear-box or engine failure, but still...

I was just kidding around. I plan to buy an XC90 when I find the right one. That's why I come on this forum every once in a while. Really like the bright red V8 that came out in 97.

I have no idea how to help you with the memory problem, but I'm with you if it's supposed to do something it should do it.

I do not think it is a battery issue. If it was the doors would not unlock properly either.

With your wifes remote unlock the car start it and have her adjust the seat and mirrors to herself them press and hold memory and 1 for a few seconds. shut her down lock it with her key. unlock with your key, then start it up agian adjust the seat and mirrors to you position hit memory and 2 for a few seconds. now totally mess up the seat and mirrors so its like not close to her position or close to hers i mean like make sure its not to close to the same setting at all. then close the door lock the car doesnt matter which remote and unlock it with which ever remote you please the car should now be adjusting the seat to the postion of which ever remote you unlocked the car with. I've experianced the problem to me and my dad have such close driver settings just a slight differance that sometimes it gets confused at one point it didnt even move up to adjust to my moms position when ti was in my dads i now am the only driver of the car but im still on key 3 and memory 3 and they are on 1 and 2
