View Full Version : Which Nitrous System to Get?

I have a 2000 Volvo S80 2.9L non-turbo. Currently I am browsing through some nitrous kits and despite doing my homework as best as I can I still have some questions:

A) Was this model EFI or not? I can't seem to get definate answers on the internet as the info tends to be scattered about.

B) Can I still use the regular 4/6 cylinder kits with it even if it is EFI? I noticed some companies like NEX offer kits for 4/6 cylinder as well as kits for EFI. I am mainly looking for a wet kit to get started with but if the EFI one is an option I want to be able to see if I can take that.

C) Can I use a 4-cylinder direct port kit on it? Or make some tweaks to the kit to accomadate all 6 cylinders? I know that direct port while the most expensive is also the best when it comes to nitrous (we all know Paul Walker's character had direct port in his Eclipse in the first Fast and the Furious[8D]).

Thanks guys hope my noob questions aren't too bad:D.

I think a Zex 6 cylinder lit should be fine.

lol at fast and furious

zex have some nice kit with good range of acesories purge valves etc main thing being dont go for big jets start of small something like 20 bhp unless you wanna kill your engine, you can always change them at a later date to 35/50 etc

also is ur engine/ brake setup stock ?

Yeah I believe so. I am aware that nitrous kits tell you to replace your factory spark plugs with ones that can handle the increase in temperature and whatnot (it's kinda annoying because ZEX doesn't seem to have plugs for Volvo so I have to dig elsewhere).

No I'll make sure I do that too-I know enough to start small first[8D]

might be an idea to look into uprated brake/suspension setup first especially if you arnt used to nos you could find your self in a ditch very quickly lol or start of small i.e exhaust, performance air filter, and build your way up

Good point; I'll add that to my list. Thanks for the heads up there:D.

That too; I've been thinking about that with my S80 for a while too.
