I have a 1999 V70 XC, her name is Sylvia and I LOVE her! Please help me save her from demise. I bought her about 8 months ago and she has 146,000 miles.

About 3 months ago the ETS light came on and went back off within 10 minutes. The car has been running without issue for the most part. I have had to replace the alternator and the battery recently.

Recently I have notcied that when I drop below a half of a tank of gas the car will run rough similar to a car that is about to run out of gas. This is solved by keeping it full. I do find that she runs better with higher Octane gas, or octane boost with regular gas. Off and on the engine has had what I would describe as a hitch, you can feel it hitch most often when accelorating. This has begun to worsen in the last few days.

Today my cruise control would not stay on for the first 15 minutes of my commute. Than the cruise worked without any further trouble. The low coolant light did come on today, but went off within a few minutes. Off an on I have smelled antifreeze, but the AC worked fine all summer and the heat works great.

Regarding coolant, check your radiator. It's a common problem that they crack.
