Is there a good coolant that I can use other than volvo brand?

 

It really must be a dumb question with no one answering

 

Well the first person that says "I just use whatever's cheapest" is going to get flamed.

 

That is why I am asking herehoping someone will have an answer, volvo or something else will work just as well. It will save me a long trip.

 

I have no hope of doing the sort of experiment that would prove the claims made on the jug, so I am forced to believe the jug. I have prestone in mine right now.

 

The other thing is that I have 210k on it and it runs incredible so I don't want to do something stupid to save $10.

 

I can't believe no one has the answer to this most basic question.

 

Never mind. I guess not so stupid after all since no one will answer.

Basically according to the comments you should use a HOAT coolant if you have a turbo or diesel volvo.
Prestone is okay for NA engines.

I use a HOAT antifreeze (green) in my V40 which has a turbo. No problems at all and is now about 2 years since I put it in.
