Timing belt centered itself...?
I just had my timing belt and pulleys and water pump (and whatever else is involved) replaced a couple months ago on my 2000 V70 and about 2000-3000 miles ago. When it was done, the timing belt was flush with the edge of the cam shafts on the engine side. So no big deal I think. Well, I just looked at it tonight, and the belt has shifted about an 1/8 of an inch outward, and seems to have almost centered itself on the cams.
Is this normal?? I'm afraid the tensioner is defective and may be allowing it to move even though it seems like the belt centered itself to where it should have been... The belt seems tight enough, and can't be slid on the cams by hand. So I am not really sure what to think...
